Movie and Book Reviews!

On this site I'll tell you about movies I've seen and books I've read. I guess you have to share my taste for movies and books, but if you know you do, then you should follow my advises and read the book/watch the movies. I'll only write about movies and books that I think is good, not bad (I'm not a bad person, so I won't say anything bad about anything or anyone.) And I won't comment the Lord of the Rings Thriolgy - everyone knows how extremely good both the book and the movies are anyway...

Movie Reviews

Dogma

Dogma is about two fallen angels, Bartleby (Ben Affleck) and Loki, the Angel of Death (Matt Damon). They "quit their job" and got kicked out of heaven. Now they believe that they can get back to heaven if they cross the doorstep of a holy church and then get killed, for then all their sins will be forgiven. But what they don't know is that if they do so, the whole world will ceace to exist. Then the Voice of God (Alan Rickman) seeks out the last xion (which mean the last one on earth with Jesus' blood in his/her veins) to fight the two angels.

This is a comedy with lots of great acters (I'm refering to Alan Rickman, among many) and great humor. If you're a christian, you might think it a bit blasphemic, but that's a matter of taste. I think it's great! (:

Shakespeare in Love

Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes) is a poor writer, and he has to come up with a play for the theathre he works for. He find no inspiration to make a play, until the day he meet lady Viola DeLesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow) and fall completely in love with her. He starts to wirte a play called "Romeo and Ethel, the pirat girl" with the inspiration from his fair love. But what he doesn't know, is that Viola DeLesseps, dressed like a man, plays one of the roles in his plays.

This is a very, very romantic movie about two young people that can't love each other. It has some humour, but it's one of the most romantic movies I've ever seen - and also one of my favorites.

The Shadowbuilder

Fader Vassey lives only for the purpose of hunting down and killing evil. He stumbles over a satanistic group, who has just succeded in awaking something unbelieveably evil, a shadow from underground.
Some other place, a twelve year old boy named Chris has no idea he's the one, that his blood is the key to the door of darkness. The shadow is hunting him down, and fader Vassey has to save him.

The Shadowbuilder is one of Bram Stoker's grand works. When you watch this, you better be prepeared - this is evil and horror without end. If you're a horror entusiast, this movie is definitivly worth watching.

Girl, Interrupted

A girl who tries to kill herself (Winona Ryder) is placed in a mental institution. There she makes friends with a woman named Lisa (Angelina Jolie). The two girls decides to run away from the hospital together. And they succed. But Lisa turns out to be very dangerous. She has a furious temper, and is capable of anything.

This is a heart-warming story, a movie which I would like to call 'pretty'. Because that's what it is. It got two of my favourite actresses in it, but that's not why I think it's good. The story, the set, the actors are the things that make this movie one of the best. Worth wathing, but bring a Cleenex.

This is how you'll look if you watch too much tv..
Eyeguy wants to be friends
...isn't it cool?? (:

Book Reviews

Romeo and Juliet  by William Shakespeare

This book, or shall I say play, is about the most famous love story the world has ever seen. It's about Romeo, a young boy, and Juliet, a young girl. Their families are rivals, and many a fight have been started by the two households.
On a party, Romeo sees Juliet, and fall in love with her. Juliet falls in love with him too, but Romeo doesn't know that Juliet is engaged to be married, with a count named Paris.

This book was originally started as a comedy, but ends as a very sad story. It's well worth reading if you're fond of old-fashioned english language and love, and it's one of my favourite books.

Prince Caspian

Everything is caos in Narnia. King Miraz has stolen the throne from his nephew Caspian X, and he is planning to kill Caspian so that his own son can become king when he's dead. Prince Caspian escapes, only to find himself in a cave with a talking badger and two dwarfs. They say that the great Aslan soon will come back and help them.

This is the third book out of seven written about Narnia. It's a great serie of books, written by C.S.Lewis, and I recommend them to everyone that likes fantasy and good books.

Romeo&Juliet (sequence)

This is a sequence from Rome&Juliet. It's a dialouge between Sampson and Gregory, two servants of the house Capulet. It's a very funny part, which I hope will make those who read it pick up Shakespeare and read it.

Sampson: I strike quickly, being moved.
Gregory: But thou art not quickly moved to strike.
Sampson: A dog of the house Montague moves me.
Gregory: To move is to stir; and to be valiant is to stand: therefore, if thou art moved, thou runn'st away.
Sampson: A dog of the house Montague shall move me to stand: I will take the wall of any man or maid of Montague's.
Gregory: That shows thee a weak slave; for the weakest goes to the wall.
Sampson: 'Tis true; and therefore women, being the weaker vessels, are ever thrust to the wall: - therefore I will push Montague's men from the wall, and thrust his maids to the wall.
Gregory: The quarrel is between our masters and us, their men.
Sampson: 'Tis all one, I will show myself a tyrant; when I have fought with the men, I will be cruel with the maids, and cut of their heads.
Gregory: The heads of the maids?
Sampson: Ay, the heads of the maids, or their maidenheads; take it in what sense thou wilt.
Gregory: They must take it in what sense that feel it.
Sampson: Me they shall feel while I am able to stand: and 'tis known I am a pretty piece of flesh.
